Liza Emanuele, Adelaide Fashion designer

Meet South Australia's self made fashion queen

Think fashion and plenty of women around the world automatically think Liza Emanuele. Now she has just opened her first exclusive store in Adelaide's leafy Hyde Park, stocking her full collections plus a bespoke bridal business. The "It" girl of South Australia's fashion scene shot to stardom after literally creating her dream label on her kitchen table in 2002. From a career as a dancer/model to working with Australian design legends George Gross & Harry Who, Liza has both the professional and life skills to create clothing for real women living real lives, who want to look extraordinary. Trained in Milan, Italy, Liza's quirky take on glamorous dressing has made her a fashion star with a global presence. While she has staged several shows at Australian Fashion Week, G'DAY LA & Australian Style in London, she says her highest praise for her designs comes from the compliments women receive when wearing them.

Life in Southern Ocean Lodge with Ben and Louise Lanyon

When you live and work in one of the world's most breathtaking places, where do you choose to go on holiday? "We generally just go home and visit family and friends," laughs Louise Lanyon who, together with husband Ben, manages Kangaroo Island's spectacular Southern Ocean Lodge. The dynamic duo - who have worked in some of Australia's best luxury lodges - rate Southern Ocean Lodge as their favourite. "It's an amazing place; an iconic Australian destination," Ben says. And while Kangaroo Island is known to most European travellers heading Down Under, the couple say there are still plenty of Australians who have no idea where Kangaroo Island is – something the Lanyons are working hard to change. "About 50% of our market are domestic travellers that are seeking the types of quality experiences that Baillie Lodges provides," Ben says.

Mike Turtur, Santos Tour Down Under

The Olympic champ behind the Santos Tour Down Under

He's won Olympic and Commonwealth gold medals, is Director of the first race on the world cycling calendar and in his "spare time" runs a bike shop in Adelaide and a pizza bar in Moonta. Life for Mike Turtur, Race Director of the Santos Tour Down Under, is never dull. When he's not securing big names to Adelaide such as seven time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and World Road Championship winner Cadel Evans, he's busy ensuring that the STDU lives up to its reputation as the southern hemisphere's greatest cycling event. Since taking on the role in 1998, the Santos Tour Down Under has assumed legendary status becoming the first race outside Europe to join the prestigious UCI ProTour – and Mike is a huge part of its phenomenal success.
