Adelaide Hills
Tourism Marketing Committee Adelaide Hills Inc (trading as Adelaide Hills Tourism and referred to as AHT), is an incorporated body made up of committee members from the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC), local Government & Adelaide Hills tourism businesses.
The main purpose of AHT is to develop and deliver tourism marketing strategies and activities, in partnership with
the travel industry and the SATC, to effectively market and position the Adelaide Hills as a highly desirable leisure destination. AHT also has a role to play in developing tourism in the Adelaide Hills region and has set a number of strategies that are linked to the South Australian Tourism Commission’s Strategic Plan target of creating $6.3billion in tourism expenditure by 2014.
The vision of Adelaide Hills Tourism is:
‘To develop & market the Adelaide Hills tourism region with the aim of growing the local tourism industry and increasing tourism visitor numbers, frequency of visits, length of stay and expenditure.’
Adelaide Hills Tourism is funded by the South Australian Tourism Commission, Adelaide Hills Council, District Council of Mount Barker, Adelaide Hills Regional Development Board and tourism industry partners. In addition, the SATC employs a full time Regional Tourism Manager and a part time Regional Tourism Co-ordinator based in Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills.
The main activities of Adelaide Hills Tourism include:
- Participation in the SATC’s Intrastate campaign
- Production of an annual visitor guide.
- Development and maintenance of the Adelaide Hills tourism website(www.visitadelaidehills.com.au)
- Coordination of media and trade famils, both in conjunction with SATC and AHT-initiated.
- Development of marketing and promotional campaigns.
- Participation in consumer and trade marketing events.
- Marketing of key regional events and festivals.

Sign up with the free mailing list to receive regular newsletters, invites to industry functions and information on cooperative marketing campaigns.
Visitor Guide
- Any tourism operator can participate as a co-operative marketing partner and advertise in the annual visitor guide. Production for the guide generally starts in July/August, with advertising sales closing by the end of September. Contact the tourism manager for more information.
- Copies of the visitor guide can be ordered from the tourism manager.
Internet site
- The regional website for Adelaide Hills Tourism is www.visitadelaidehills.com.au and is part of the official SATC website framework of www.southaustralia.com. Tourism businesses will be listed only if they are registered with the SATC’s Australian Tourism Data Warehouse. The listing is free and offers many advantages, including opportunities for ongoing marketing support. The Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) is a database of Australian tourism product and destination information available to tourism-related websites worldwide, including Tourism Australia’s website www.australia.com. Potentially, these websites could provide your business with exposure to more than 840 million internet users.
Cooperative marketing activities

Throughout the year AHT offers a range of cooperative marketing activities to tourism operators. These may be an opportunity to participate in a regional marketing campaign, advertise in a newspaper feature, to provide a prize for a radio giveaway or to participate in a media and trade famil. Details of these opportunities will be provided to tourism operators on a regular basis.
