Yorke Peninsula

Yorke Peninsula Tourism Marketing is the key organisation, responsible for marketing and increasing the profile of the Yorke Peninsula tourism region. Our role is to highlight the facilities, attractions, accommodation and services of the region as a whole. YPTM is continually working towards increasing the number of visitors to the region; increasing their length of stay; resulting in increased average expenditure.

Key pieces of marketing material produced by Yorke Peninsula Tourism Marketing are - the Yorke Peninsula Visitor Guide, the Yorke Peninsula Fishing Guide and the regional website www.yorkepeninsula.com.au. These are the primary motivational tools used to raise awareness of the Yorke Peninsula’s holiday opportunities.

Yorke Peninsula Tourism Marketing is funded by the South Australian Tourism Commission, industry and five councils - District Council of the Copper Coast, District Council of Yorke Peninsula, District Council of Barunga West, Wakefield Regional Council, and District Council of Mallala.  

In addition, the SATC employs two full-time staff members who run Yorke Peninsula Tourism Marketing. Staff are based at The Farm Shed Museum & Tourism Centre, Kadina in the Yorke Peninsula.

Yorke Peninsula Regional Strategic Tourism Plan - consultation draft May 2011

The 2011 - 2014 Regional Strategic Tourism Plan for the Yorke Peninsula is currently being developed by a Steering Group consisting of representatives from throughout the region including Yorke Peninsula Tourism, Local Government, SA Tourism Commission, Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources

This important plan will assist in guiding the development of the region's tourism industry over the next four years. It is envisaged that this plan will complement the proposed SATC Regional Growth Plan and ensure that local and regional priorities are identified and delivered.

An invitation is extended to anyone with an interest in the tourism sector to contribute to the development of the Plan.

Yorke Peninsula Tourism Awards


The Yorke Peninsula Tourism Awards aims to recognise and promote excellence in tourism. The Awards support improved business planning, development and internal analysis of tourism businesses as well as celebrate the creativity, professionalism and innovation of the region's tourism industry.  The Awards are an online submission and site visit based (where applicable) competition for all tourism businesses and industry suppliers based on the Yorke Peninsula. The Yorke Peninsula Tourism Awards Presentation Night provides an opportunity to publicly recognise and showcase the region's finest tourism operators.

Nominations are now open for Yorke Peninsula tourism businesses to nominate for the Yorke Peninsula Tourism Awards.   There are 11 categories covering attractions, festivals & events, accommodation, fishing charters & tours, visitor information, restaurants and the Harry Dowling Award for an outstanding contribution by an individual.
